The Dietary Do’s, Don’t & the Exceptions –

These laws have been separated into 3 Main Categories to Memorize & Learn them more easily;

6 Dietary Do’s

These are the food & animals you may eat according to the Laws of Yahuah in the Scriptures.  These foods are “Clean” to eat…

 

1) EAT HERBS, SEEDS, FRUITS & VEGETABLES FOR FOOD as it is written,

“And Alahym said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.” – (Genesis בראשית (Ba’RaASheyTh) 1:29)

Reason for eating herbs, seeds, fruits & vegetables for food,

as it is written, “to you it shall be for meat.” – (Genesis בראשית (Ba’RaASheyTh) 1:29)

 

2) PERMITTED ANIMALS IN THE WATER TO EAT, MUST HAVE FINS & SCALES,

as it is written,

“These ye shall eat of all that are in the waters: all that have fins and scales shall ye eat:” – (Deuteronomy דברים (DaBaR’eyM) 14:9)

As it is also written,

“These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat.” – (Leviticus ויקרא (u’Ye-QuRA) 11:9)

 

3) PERMITTED FLYING CREEPING THING FOR FOOD,

as it is written, JPS Bible

“ 21Yet these may ye eat of all winged swarming things that go upon all fours, which have jointed legs above their feet, wherewith to leap upon the earth; 22even these of them ye may eat: the locust after its kinds, and the bald locust after its kinds, and the cricket after its kinds, and the grasshopper after its kinds.”  – (Leviticus ויקרא (u’Ye-QuRA) 11:21-22)

 

 

4) PERMITTED BIRDS FOR FOOD,

as it is written,

“Of all CLEAN birds ye shall eat.” – (Deuteronomy דברים (DaBaR’eyM) 14:11)

 

5) PERMITTED BEASTS OF THE FIELD FOR FOOD,

as it is written,

“Whatsoever parteth the hoof, and is clovenfooted, and cheweth the cud, among the beasts, that shall ye eat.” – (Leviticus ויקרא (u’Ye-QuRA) 11:3)

 

6) EAT UNLEAVEN BREAD FOR SEVEN DAYS DURING THE FEAST OF UNLEAVEN BREAD,

as it is written,

“Seven days thou shalt eat unleavened bread, and in the seventh day shall be a feast to Yahuah. Unleavened bread shall be eaten seven days; – (Exodus שמות (ShuMuTh) 13:6-7)

 

6 Dietary Exceptions

Below you will find the Times when Certain Clean Foods & Animals are NOT PERMITTED or Not Ok to Eat

You may eat these foods and animals except during certain times or instances.

 EAT ANY DAY, EXCEPT ON THE DAY OF ATONEMENT

1) DO NOT EAT or DRINK ANYTHING ON THE DAY OF ATONEMENT,

as it is written,

“Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an set-apart convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls,” – (Leviticus ויקרא (u’Ye-QuRA) 23:27)

Reason for not eating on the day of atonement,

as it is written,

“for it is a day of atonement, to make an atonement for you before Yahuah your Alahym.  – (Leviticus ויקרא (u’Ye-QuRA) 23:27)

 

Judgment for eating on the day of Atonement,

as it is written, “For whatsoever soul it be that shall not be afflicted in that same day, he shall be cut off from among his people.” – (Leviticus ויקרא (u’Ye-QuRA) 23:29)

 

YOU MAY EAT LEAVEN BREAD (bread, cookies, cake etc…with yeast or baking powder) EXCEPT DURING THE PASSOVER & FEAST OF UNLEAVEN BREAD

Do not eat anything with Leaven during the Feast of Unleaven Bread. Remove all leaven out of your house before the feast day of unleaven bread. This means no baking soda, or baking powder. Read your labels, many crackers, cereal, cookies, cakes & breads of course, have “leaven, baking soda or baking powder in them.

 

2) DO NOT EAT ANYTHING WITH LEAVEN DURING THE FEAST OF UNLEAVENED BREAD,

as it is written,

“and there shall no leavened bread be seen with thee, neither shall there be leaven seen with thee in all thy quarters. – (Exodus שמות (ShuMuTh) 13:7)

Reason for not eating leaven during the feast of unleavened bread,

as it is written,

“And thou shalt shew thy son in that day, saying, This is done because of that which Yahuah did unto me when I came forth out of Egypt.   And it shall be for a sign unto thee upon thine hand, and for a memorial between thine eyes, that Yahuah‘s law may be in thy mouth: for with a strong hand hath Yahuah brought thee out of Egypt.” – (Exodus שמות (ShuMuTh) 13:8-9)

Passover meal never includes Bread with leaven in them. Only Unleaven Bread can be eating.

3) DO NOT EAT LEAVEN BREAD WITH THE PASSOVER,

as it is written,

“Thou shalt eat no leavened bread with it; seven days shalt thou eat unleavened bread therewith, even the bread of affliction; for thou camest forth out of the land of Egypt in haste: that thou mayest remember the day when thou camest forth out of the land of Egypt all the days of thy life.” – (Deuteronomy דברים (DaBaR’eyM)16:3)

 

YOU MAY EAT FOOD’S YOU GROW IN THE LAND OF ISRAEL, EXCEPT, …YOU MUST OFFER TO Yahuah FIRST!

 

4) WHEN YOU REAP THE FIRST FRUIT OF THE HARVEST, DO NOT EAT BREAD or PARCHED CORN, or GREEN EARS, until YOU MAKE AN OFFERING UNTO Yahuah,

as it is written,

“Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come into the land which I give unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest unto the priest: And he shall wave the sheaf before Yahuah, to be accepted for you: on the morrow after the Sabbath the priest shall wave it. And ye shall eat neither bread, nor parched corn, nor green ears, until the selfsame day that ye have brought an offering unto your Alahym: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.” –Leviticus ויקרא (u’Ye-QuRA) 23:10-11,14

 

YOU MAY EAT FRUITS, EXCEPT, …

5) DO NOT EAT OF YOUNG FRUIT TREES FOR THE FIRST FOUR YEARS OF GROWTH,

as it is written,

“19:23 And when ye shall come into the land, and shall have planted all manner of trees for food, then ye shall count the fruit thereof as uncircumcised: three years shall it be as uncircumcised unto you: it shall not be eaten of. But in the fourth year all the fruit thereof shall be set-apart to praise Yahuah withal. 5 And in the fifth year shall ye eat of the fruit thereof, – Leviticus ויקרא (u’Ye-QuRA) 19:23-25

6)  YOU  MAY DRINK WINE or STRONG DRINK, EXCEPT, WHEN YOU ENTER INTO THE TABERNACLE OF THE CONGREGATION

as it is written…

“Do not drink wine nor strong drink, thou, nor thy sons with thee, when ye go into the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations:”- Leviticus ויקרא (u’Ye-QuRA) 10:9

 7) YOU MAY EAT ALL KINDS OF SEEDS, FRUITS & VEGETABLES, EXCEPT DO NOT EAT GENETICALLY MODIFIED SEEDS, HERBS, FRUITS & VEGETABLES NOT MADE BY YAH

as it is written,…

“Thou shalt not sow thy vineyard with divers seeds: lest the fruit of thy seed which thou hast sown, and the fruit of thy vineyard, be defiled. – Deuteronomy דברים (DaBaR’eyM) 29:9

 

 

ANIMAL MEAT EXCEPTION

YOU MAY EAT ANY CLEAN ANIMAL, EXCEPT…

1) WHEN YOU COME ACROSS A BIRD NEST, YOU MAY TAKE THE YOUNG ONES or EGGS, BUT SET THE MOTHER BIRD FREE

as it is written,

“if a bird’s nest chance to be before thee in the way in any tree, or on the ground, whether they be young ones, or eggs, and the dam sitting upon the young, or upon the eggs, thou shalt not take the dam with the young: But thou shalt in any wise let the dam go, and take the young to thee; that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days”.- (Deuteronomy דברים (DaBaR’eyM) 22:6-7)

Reason for setting the mother bird free when taking the nest or the young,

as it is written,

“it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days”.- (Deuteronomy דברים (DaBaR’eyM) 22:7)

 

2) DO NOT EAT BLOOD, POUR IT UPON THE EARTH AS WATER,

as it is written,

“ Only be sure that thou eat not the blood: for the blood is the life; and thou mayest not eat the life with the flesh. Thou shalt not eat it; thou shalt pour it upon the earth as water. Thou shalt not eat it; that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, when thou shalt do that which is right in the sight of Yahuah.”- (Deuteronomy דברים (DaBaR’eyM) 12:23-25)

The Reason for not eating blood,

as it is written,

“And whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among you, that eateth any manner of blood; I will even set my face against that soul that eateth blood, and will cut him off from among his people.  For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.  Therefore I said unto the children of Israel, No soul of you shall eat blood, neither shall any stranger that sojourneth among you eat blood.  And whatsoever man there be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among you, which hunteth and catcheth any beast or fowl that may be eaten; he shall even pour out the blood thereof, and cover it with dust.  For it is the life of all flesh; the blood of it is for the life thereof: therefore I said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall eat the blood of no manner of flesh: for the life of all flesh is the blood thereof: whosoever eateth it shall be cut off. – (Leviticus ויקרא (u’Ye-QuRA) 17:10-14)

Judgment for eating blood,

as it is written,

“Moreover ye shall eat no manner of blood, whether it be of fowl or of beast, in any of your dwellings. Whatsoever soul it be that eateth any manner of blood, even that soul shall be cut off from his people.” – (Leviticus ויקרא (u’Ye-QuRA) 7:26-27)

 

Do not eat the fat from animal flesh

3) DO NOT EAT THE FAT OF ANY ANIMALS,

as written,

“Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, Ye shall eat no manner of fat, of ox, or of sheep, or of goat. And the fat of the beast that dieth of itself, and the fat of that which is torn with beasts, may be used in any other use: but ye shall in no wise eat of it. – (Leviticus ויקרא (u’Ye-QuRA) 7:23-25)

Reason you can not eat fat,

as it is written,

“fat offered to Yah for sacrifice – scripture reference needed

Judgment for eating fat,

as it is written,

“For whosoever eateth the fat of the beast, of which men offer an offering made by fire unto Yahuah, even the soul that eateth it shall be cut off from his people.” – (Leviticus ויקרא (u’Ye-QuRA) 7:25)

4) DO NOT EAT ANY ANIMAL THAT DIES OF IT’S SELF,

as it is written,

“Ye shall not eat of anything that dieth of itself: thou shalt give it unto the stranger that is in thy gates, that he may eat it; or thou mayest sell it unto an alien:” – (Deuteronomy דברים (DaBaR’eyM) 14:21)

Reason for not eating an animal that dies of itself,

as it is written,

“for thou art an set-apart people unto Yahuah thy Alahym.” – (Deuteronomy דברים (DaBaR’eyM) 14:21)

 

5) DO NOT EAT ANY ANIMAL KILLED BY ANOTHER ANIMAL,

as it is written,

“neither shall ye eat any flesh that is torn of beasts in the field; ye shall cast it to the dogs.” – (Exodus שמות (ShuMuTh) 22:31)

Reason for not eating an animal killed by another animal,

as it is written,

“And ye shall be set-apart men unto me:”– (Exodus שמות (ShuMuTh) 22:31)

 

6) DO NOT EAT AN OX THAT KILLS A MAN OR WOMAN,

as it is written,

“If an ox gore a man or a woman, that they die: then the ox shall be surely stoned, and his flesh shall not be eaten; but the owner of the ox shall be quit.” – (Exodus שמות (ShuMuTh) 21:27)

 

7) DO NOT BOIL or BAKE A KID WHEN ITS NOT WEANED (in milk),

as it is written,

“Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mother’s milk.” – (Deuteronomy דברים (DaBaR’eyM) 14:21)

• This is really a bad translation and very misunderstood. “In mother’s milk” means not yet weaned from mothers milk.  So basically, don’t eat a baby lamb. Poor mama just wants to give milk to her kid.

8) DO NOT EAT GENETICALLY MODIFIED ANIMALS, as it is written…

as it is written, “Ye shall keep my statutes. Thou shalt not let thy cattle gender with a diverse kind: thou shalt not sow thy field with mingled seed: neither shall a garment mingled of linen and woollen come upon thee.” – Leviticus ויקרא (u’Ye-QuRA) 19:19

 

THERE IS NEVER ANY TIME WHEN YOU MAY EAT THESE ANIMALS FOR FOOD. THEY ARE UNCLEAN & UNFIT FOR SET-APART PEOPLE

Dietary No’s

1) DO NOT EAT UNCLEAN BIRDS FOR FOOD,

as it is written,

“But these are they of which ye shall not eat: the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the ospray, And the glede, and the kite, and the vulture after his kind, And every raven after his kind. And the owl, and the night hawk, and the cuckow, and the hawk after his kind, The little owl, and the great owl, and the swan, And the pelican, and the gier eagle, and the cormorant, And the stork, and the heron after her kind, and the lapwing, and the bat. And every creeping thing that flieth is unclean unto you: they shall not be eaten. But of all clean fowls ye may eat.” – (Deuteronomy דברים (DaBaR’eyM) 14:11-19)

2) DO NOT EAT ANIMALS IN THE WATER THAT DON’T HAVE FINS & SCALES,

as it is written,

“And whatsoever hath not fins and scales ye may not eat; it is unclean unto you.” – (Deuteronomy דברים (DaBaR’eyM) 14:10)

As it is also written,

“And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you: They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcases in abomination. Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you.” – “Leviticus ויקרא (u’Ye-QuRA) 11:10-12”

Reason for not eating animals in the water without fins & scales,

as it is written,

“it is unclean unto you.” – (Deuteronomy דברים (DaBaR’eyM) 14:10)

3) DO NOT EAT UNCLEAN BEASTS OF THE FIELD FOR FOOD,

as it is written,

“Nevertheless these shall ye not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the hoof: as the camel, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you. And the coney, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you. And the hare, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you. And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be clovenfooted, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you”  – (Leviticus ויקרא (u’Ye-QuRA) 1:4-7)

Reason for not eating unclean beast of the field for food,

as it is written,

“he is unclean to you”  – (Leviticus ויקרא (u’Ye-QuRA) 11:7)

 

4) ALL FLYING CREEPING THINGS ARE NOT PERMITTED FOR FOOD, BESIDES THE EXCEPTION,

as it is written,

“But all other flying creeping things, which have four feet, shall be an abomination unto you.” – (Leviticus ויקרא (u’Ye-QuRA) 11:23)

5) DO NOT EAT UNCLEAN CREEPING ANIMALS,

as it is written,

“29 These also shall be unclean unto you among the creeping things that creep upon the earth; the weasel, and the mouse, and the tortoise after his kind, 30 And the ferret, and the chameleon, and the lizard, and the snail, and the mole. 31 These are unclean to you among all that creep: whosoever doth touch them, when they be dead, shall be unclean until the even.” – Leviticus ויקרא (u’Ye-QuRA) 11:29-31

 

Leviticus ויקרא (u’Ye-QuRA) 11:

WASH ALL VESSELS WHERE UNCLEAN CREEPING ANIMAL DIES

32 And upon whatsoever any of them, when they are dead, doth fall, it shall be unclean; whether it be any vessel of wood, or raiment, or skin, or sack, whatsoever vessel it be, wherein any work is done, it must be put into water, and it shall be unclean until the even; so it shall be cleansed.

 

BREAK EVERY EARTH VESSEL (clay) WHERE UNCLEAN CREEPING ANIMAL CARCASE COMES ON IT

33 And every earthen vessel, whereinto any of them falleth, whatsoever is in it shall be unclean; and ye shall break it.

CLEAN ANIMAL MEAT, BECOMES UNCLEAN WHEN UNCLEAN CREEPING ANIMAL WATER COMES ON IT

34 Of all meat which may be eaten, that on which SUCH WATER cometh shall be unclean:

VESSELS OF DRINK ARE UNCLEAN CAUSE OF ANY UNCLEAN CREEPING ANIMAL CARCASE

and all drink that may be drunk in every SUCH VESSEL shall be unclean.

EVERYTHING IS UNCLEAN WHEN THERE IS ANY CARCASE OF THR UNCLEAN CREEPING ANIMAL

35 And EVERYTHING whereupon any part of their carcase falleth shall be unclean; whether it be oven, or ranges for pots, they shall be broken down: for they are unclean, and shall be unclean unto you.

FOUNTAINS AND WATER PITS BECOME UNCLEAN BY UNCLEN CREEPING ANIMAL CARCASE

36 Nevertheless a fountain or pit, wherein there is plenty of water, shall be clean: but that which toucheth their carcase shall be unclean.

SEEDS WATERED AFTER TOUCHING THE CARCASE OF UNCLEAN CREEPING ANIMAL IS UNCLEAN

37 And if any part of their carcase fall upon any sowing seed which is to be sown, it shall be clean. 38 But if any water be put upon the seed, and any part of their carcase fall thereon, it shall be unclean unto you.

6) ALL CREEPING THINGS, SUCH AS WORMS or INSECTS, SHALL NOT BE EATEN,

as it is written, “And every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth shall be an abomination; it shall not be eaten. Whatsoever goeth upon the belly, and whatsoever goeth upon all four, or whatsoever hath more feet among all creeping things that creep upon the earth, them ye shall not eat; for they are an abomination. Ye shall not make yourselves abominable with any creeping thing that creepeth, neither shall ye make yourselves unclean with them, that ye should be defiled thereby.” – (Leviticus ויקרא (u’Ye-QuRA) 11:41-43)

Reason for not eating all creeping things, such as worms & insects,

as it is written, “For I am Yahuah your Alahym: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be set-apart; for I am set-apart: neither shall ye defile yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. For I am Yahuah that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your Alahym: ye shall therefore be set-apart, for I am set-apart.” – (Leviticus ויקרא (u’Ye-QuRA) 11:44-45)

this is an Alligator someone is trying to make a meal out of, he is a “creeping thing”. This is what the scriptures calls, any “other creeping”. Basically, if Yah didn’t say you can it an animal don’t!

7) DO NOT EAT REPTILES FOR FOOD,

as it is written, “neither shall ye defile yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.” – (Leviticus ויקרא (u’Ye-QuRA) 11:44)
